XEKTT UPDATE, AND RELATED INFORMATION

A high level telephone call between the FCC and the SCT
(Mexico's FCC) reportedly took place on Tuesday of last week. Put simply, the SCT is said to have promised swift action in eliminating the interference that XEKTT (XEPE), 560 kHz, Tecate/Tijuana, is currently causing to U.S. stations. Meanwhile, more broadcasters are joining the list of companies concerned with the interference.

Concern for Mexico's planned operations on 780 and 920 kHz
(XESS and XEDD respectively) in the vicinity of Tijuana continues to mount. A hard copy of the authorization for 780 kHz has surfaced and confirms that operation with 20 kw day and 10 kW night is in fact sanctioned by the SCT, with non-directional facilities both times and a quarter-wave tall broadcast tower. This confirms the power figures published in CGC #610 and establishes that we are dealing with more blow torch situations.
