Spanish talk expands...

Thursday, February 05 2004

With the addition of two new syndicated talk shows, Univision Radio is expected to complete the transition of WRTO-1200 to a Spanish-language news/talk format next week.
Starting Monday, Julie Stay's financial advice show will air from 11 a.m to noon weekdays, followed by psychologist and family counselor Isabel Gomez-Bassols (kbown as "Dr. Isabel!") from noon to 3 p.m. Stav previously aired only on Saturday mornings, and "Dr. Isabel" was heard on Radio Unica.
Under the new lineup, Elisa Alfonso's "Chicago Al Dia" will move to 3 p.m. Rey Rubio continues from 6 to 10 a.m., and Renan Almendarez Coello (known as "El Cucuy") continues from 6 to 9 p.m.
Since October, Univision Radio has shifted much of its talk programming from WIND-AM (560) to WRTO and billed the station as "Your Source of Information." WIND switched to an adult-contemporary music format, featuring Spanish oldies and ballads primarily from the 1980s and '90s.
