Glad you asked that question, Mike! Without IBOC in place at one mile range,
the ACI only extends out to 20 kHz either side. At my QTH, ten miles from the
KFUO transmitter site, I am able to hear KOTC Kennett, MO (in full AM Stereo)
on 830 kHz when KFUO is transmitting analog only. With KFUO in analog mode, I
also have no problem receiving WHB 810 Kansas City, MO and WCBW 880 Highland,
IL, and can get WLS 890 occasionally lighting up the AM Stereo light on my
TM-152. WCSN 820 Chicago, IL has a weak signal when KFUO is analog only. With
IBOC, however, WHB, WCBW and WLS all suffer from interference, and WCSN and KOTC
are not audible because of KFUO's IBOC sidebands. This also keeps me from
going after one of my most-wanted stations: WINU 870 Shelbyville, IL.
