I am new to this group. I read the daily digest with interest.
Most members are from US. Has any one listened to stations
of asian origin in general or for that matter of Indian /Sri Lanka
stations in paricular.

Sir,

Welcome to IRCA. Hope you find us entertaining and maybe informative. At least
harmless and no danger to you at that distance.
My little wife is from the Philippines. I have lived there about three years and was
posted (US Navy) in Vietnam 1968 - 1969. While at either place I received tent-
atively several AIR MW stations. I did positively ID Calcutta A on 1130 kHz
while in Vietnam. Think that station was 1,000,000 watts.

Other things around the Subcontinent, too. My main interest was in the Chinese
MW stations.
One I remember well is Wulumqi, Xinjiang on 1525 kHz in those days. Heard it
from the Philippines many times between 1970 and 1973. Also heard it VERY
briefly and only the East is Red IS, from Indianapolis, Indiana state, one winter
afternoon in 1976.

Two ways around.

Sri Lanka is another matter. Almost was posted at the old Sri Lanka VOA
SW station years ago. VOA management changed its mind because of my
family size (4 kids) and the problems getting housing considered suitable
for Americans.
So far away from here yet familiar to us. For instance, our family doctor
is from Gujarat state.
Anyway, welcome again.
