As you will have gathered, Patrick's situation is unusual in that he has heard a number of stations from the subcontinent from a quiet location with good antennas.

The rest of us, at least at quiet locations in western North America can sometimes hear HLAZ-1566 (but not Nagpur), the high powered Japanese on 774, 747, 828, and sometimes 594. Usually, for good DX, we need to have a Beverage antenna by the ocean, and then the Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese can be more easily heard. On one of those expeditions, Sri Lanka on 1548 was heard, and we might have heard Nagpur on 1566, but that is very uncertain.

In the spring, summer and fall, sometimes New Zealand and Australia are heard also, again much better on the coast with a Beverage antenna.

best wishes,

Nick
